being an idiot is easy, dealing with being an idiot is hard

i saw her looking at me, the attractive girl. i thought. it gave the somewhat insecure me a glimpse of optimism.
then the words of a friend echoed "neither of us are by any means movie star attractive." reality seeped back.
but so did her looking at me. she really was. then she came over by me. to pet the dog standing close by. that is also when i noticed her wedding ring. and the husband that she walked back to.
the bitch called false hope, disguised as optimism once again delivered me to ecstatic heights to plunge me down, down past the plateau i had reached before the whole 'encounter'.
to give paranoia the benefit of the doubt, maybe she did take a glance or two my way. a glance of 'didn't i go to grade school with that kid?' or 'why is that kid in the corner drinking at a bar by himself staring at me?'
why? cuz i'm that kid in the corner, by myself drinking at a bar and wishing the immediately attractive girl would for some reason bypass that initial need of interaction that leads to attraction and suddenly just find herself enamored with me. that's just as likely to happen whether i was in the bar or at home alone.

I take it back...you are movie star attractive. So am I. Independent cinema, though.

Jar-Jar Binks is a character actor, not a "movie star." He's also generated by a compter. We're talking about the archetypal movie star.
