jazzfest or mardi gras...the choice is yourz

for all that don't know you betta axe somebody, it's jazzfest season here in the big easy. speaking on it with a friend the other day, she mentioned that there's two types of people in this world of nola. there are the jazzfest people and the mardi gras people and it's pretty much an either or type of thing. this side or that side. black or white. chocolate or vanilla. dog or cat.
so, what am i? a goddam mardi gras mofo!
I'd so much rather dance to some real jazz next to a topless girl instead of listen to some bad sound system noise next to a topless executive from the midwest trying to regain they're wacky frat existence youth. but hey, that's just me.
and thinking on it a bit more, there's a third factor in the either/or divide. there's the 75% of us down here that work in the service industry and are too damn busy during this time to even think about enjoying the time. we've only got so many prosperous times down here and we gotta latch on and mooch off of these fleeting moment any time we can.
so big up to the bartenders, waitstaff, dancers, sno cone peddlers, h2o pushers, street art vendors, and everyone else who got their hustle on...thank you tourists.
